Usually, Labor Day is the first Monday of September. It became a federal holiday in 1894. A Labor Day celebration includes parties, street parades, and athletic events, as well as the end of summer for many Americans.

Labor unions, which had first emerged around 1800, became more powerful and influential. They began organizing protests and marches to raise awareness against unhygienic working conditions and to pressure employers into renegotiating their working hours and salaries.

Who Created Labor Day?

Due to the massive unrest that followed, to restore relations with American workers, the District of Columbia and all its territories declared Labor Day a legal holiday. It was signed into law by Grover Cleveland on June 28, 1894. The century has gone; to this day the Labor Day founder remains a mystery.

Labor Day has become a public celebration event in the USA, with festivals, BBQs, fireworks show, and many other activities. Among American citizens, particularly teens, toddlers, and young grownups, Labor Day marks the beginning of fall and the start of the academic year.
